Autapomorphies of Traverina. () Each tergalius I–VII has both lamellae slightly widened, each with two short pointed processes by sides of initial terminal process [see Leptophlebia/fg1 (10)]. Non-unique character (see Index of characters [2.3.23]). Characters of Traverina of unclear phylogenetic status. () Among denticles on inner side of larval claw [see Leptophlebia/fg1 (9)], most distal denticle is much larger than others. The same in many other taxa (see Index of characters [1.2.21]), but not in other Hagenulus/fg2. () Penis lobes are elongate and lack ventral projections [see Hagenulus/fg2 ()] both in imago and subimago (Kluge 1994b: Fig.204,205,207). The same in Careospina; possibly synapomorphy.
