COMMENT. Possibly, one could interpret the name Pauropoda as typified, formerd from the generic name Pauropus by adding suffix and ending "-oda". However, the name Pauropoda should be regarded as non-typified, i.e. circumsriptional one, because in the original publication (Lubbock 1868) the ordinal name Pauropoda is formed similarly to the non-typified ordinal names Chilopoda and Diplopoda; in this publication the family-group typified name formed from the generic name Pauropus has another form – Pauropodidae. When the name Pauropoda was established, representatives of the taxon Hexamerocerata Remy 1953 were unknown; so the name Pauropoda fits both the taxon including Hexamerocerata and the taxon excluding Hexamerocerata (i.e. for Tetramerocerata Remy 1953). Traditionally, the name Pauropoda is used only in the wide sense, i.e. for the taxon which includes Hexamerocerata. |
