COMMENT. Original circumscription of Etymachila should be regarded as uniting Hexapoda + Chilopoda + Symphyla , while in the original publication Symphyla are not mentioned. According to the original diagnosis of Etymachila, they have true labium. The labium of Hexapoda and the "maxillae II" (actually vestiges of legs before poison claws) of Chilopoda are similar only in belonging to the 4th postoral segment; the gnathochilarium of Symphyla undoubtedly has the same feature, and thus, Symphyla fall to the taxon Etymachila. |
