Autapomorphy of Macdunnoa. (1) Tergalius VII [see Stenonema/fg1 (3)] has a form of very small vestige (at least in persimplex [Heptagenia] and brunnea [Macdunnoa]; in original description of nipawinia [M.] is said that tergalii VII are lost). Tergalius VI is strongly diminished. Character of Macdunnoa of unclear phylogenetic status. (2) Tergalii I–VI with rounded apex. The same in Stenonema/fg3. |
Size. Fore wing length 6–9 mm.
Distribution. Nearctic.
Nominal species in Macdunnoa/g(1):

nipawinia Lehmkuhl 1979 [Macdunnoa]
persimplex McDunnough 1929 [Heptagenia]
