Autapomorphies of Callibaetis/fg2. (1) Tergalii have costal rib moved far from costal margin; anal rib [initially situated on anal margin – see Tetramerotarsata (12)] is lost – thus margins of tergalii are not bordered by ribs; all or several anteriormost tergalii with a separated anal-proximal lobe curved to ventral side. Among Tetramerotarsata, besides Callibaetis/fg2, reduction of anal rib and ventral curvation of the anal-proximal lobe takes place only in Crassabwa; in Cloeon/fg1, anal lobe is similarly curved dorsally (see Index of characters [1.3.24]). (2) In larva, on fore claw denticles [situated in 2 rows – see Tetramerotarsata (11)] are longer than on middle and hind ones. Unique apomorphy. (3) Viviparous. The same in Cloeon/fg2 and Oculogaster. Characters of Callibaetis/fg2 of unclear phylogenetic status. Plesiomorphies of Callibaetis/fg2. |
Size. Fore wing length 5–12 mm (see Tetramerotarsata).
Distribution. America (Nearctic and Neotropical Regions).
