Characters of Baetopus/g2 of unclear phylogenetic status. (1) Prostheca of right mandible not bifid, i.e. without long process (Müller-Liebenau 1978: Abb. 9a). (2) 2nd+3rd segment of labial palp [see Baetopus/g1 (1)] is widest near middle (resembling in shape asymmetrical lemon) ( Müller-Liebenau 1978: Abb. 11a). Plesiomorphies of Baetopus/g2. Unlike Raptobaetopus, mouth apparatus is less specialized: labrum with incision and projection in it [see Turbanoculata (4)]; mandibles and maxillae are less specialized. |
Size. Fore wing length 3–5 mm (see Tetramerotarsata).
