COMMENT. As the oldest name for this taxon, one can regard Pseudognatha Latreille 1820, because originally the taxon Pseudognathes (in French spelling) was characterized by absence of mouth appendages, that coresponds to the diagnosis of Chelicerophora. However, originally (Latreille 1820) the taxon Pseudognathes, besides all Chelicerophora, included also parasitic eucrustaceans (Siphonides) and lice (Pediculaires), whose mouth appendages are so strongly modified, that seem to be absent.
