COMMENT. Among all circumscriptional synonyms, the name Auchenorryncha is the most usable in modern literature. This name should be regarded as valid, with authorship of Dumeril 1805. When the name is originally given in a Latin spelling, all other Latin emendations should be regarded as separate names with their own authors, dates and original circumscriptions; but Dumeril did not give any Latin spelling for his Auchenorinques, so all its subsequent Latin emendations (Auchenorhynchi, Auchenorhyncha and Auchenorrhyncha) should be regarded as having the same author, date and original circumscription as Auchenorinques.
