Characters of Metretopus/fg2 of unclear phylogenetic status.

(1) Larval abdominal terga and sterna lack spine-like setae (the same in Metreplecton, unlike Siphloplecton).

(2) Tergalii IV-VII with denticles on costal margin [armed with rib – see Metretopus/fg1 (3)]; the same in Metreplecton, unlike Siphloplecton.

(3) Distal segment of labial palp [2nd+3rd – see Metretopus/fg1 (2)] is widest near middle (Kluge 2004: Fig.22:J) (unlike Metreplecton and Siphloplecton).

(4) Cubital field of fore wing with 2 intercalaries [see Metretopus/fg1 (5)] (Berner 1978: Fig.6).

Size. Fore wing length 9–14 mm.

Distribution. Holarctic.
