Autapomorphies of Tikuna.

(1) Fore wing with yellow coloration in costal field proximad of pterostigma and in subcostal field posteriad of pterostigma (Kluge 2009: Fig.21, 24, 28; Kluge 2015: Fig.112)

Characters of Tikuna of unclear phylogenetic status. 

(2) Both dorsal and ventral lamellae of tergalii II–VI with projections by sides of terminal point  [see Terpides/fg1 (18)] (in contrast to Terpides/fg2 and Fittkaulus).

(3) Subimaginal cuticle of all legs of male and female 1st tarsomere (shortened) is covered by microtrichiae, and 2nd–5th tarsomeres are covered by blunt microlepides. The same in Fittkaulus, in contrast to Terpides/fg2, whose 1st tarsomere of male fore leg is covered by microlepides [about other legs – see Terpides/fg1 (10)].

(4) Subimaginal cuticle of mesonotum is colorless ((in contrast to Terpides/fg2 and Fittkaulus).

(5) Costal projection of hind wing is prominent (the same in Fittkaulus, in contrast to Terpides/fg2).

Plesiomorphies of Tikuna.  

(6) Gonostylus with 2 apical segments (Kluge 2009: Fig. ) (the same in Terpides/fg2, in contrast to Fittkaulus).

(7) Egg without two rows of plates (Kluge 2015: Fig.118–124). In contrast to Terpides/fg2.

Size. Fore wing length 5–7 mm.

Distribution. Neotropical Region.
