Autapomorphies of Deleatidium/g1.

(?) Tergalii form a sucking disk similar to that of Rhithrogena/fg3 and Iron/g1 in Radulapalpata: each tergalius I–VII consists of a single wide lamella [instead of two – see Leptophlebia/fg1 (10)]; costal margin of tergalius I is strongly produced anteriorly and turned under thorax...? Tergalii either have no ribs other than main trachea (e.g. in fumosum [D.]), or have a secondary rib close to the main trachea; this can be a short swelling at base of tergalia (??i.g. in myzobranchia [D.]), or a long arched rib on ventral and ?dorsal side (e.g. in lineata [Lepegenia]).

Characters of Deleatidium/g1 of unclear phylogenetic status.

?) Labrum is widened, with anterior margin rolled ventrally and covered with dense setae (the same in ...?); median incision [see Atalophleboculata (2)] is either deep and narrow with denticles vestigial (in most of New Zealand species) or without denticles, or lost (e.g. in cornutum [D.], lineata [Lepegenia]); submarginal row of setae can be retained (e.g. in fumosum [D.]) or lost (e.g. in myzobranchia [D.], lineata [Lepegenia]).

(?) Larval abdominal terga with a median stripe of irregular long slender setae (the same in ...?)

Variable characters of Deleatidium/g1

All imaginal and subimaginal claws are either ephemeropteroid, or intermediate between ephemeropteroid and pointed, or pointed without "opposing hook" (Towns & Peters 1996: Fig.16–20) (see Index of characters [2.2.85]).

Size. Fore wing length 5–19 mm.

Distribution. New Zealand and New Caledonia.
