References. Kluge 2008: ; – 2009:

Autapomorphy of Atalophleboadentata.

(1) Maxillary canines [initially vestigial – see Leptophlebia/fg1 (1)] are completely lost. Apical angle of maxilla can retain either both dentisetae [see Bidentiseta (1)] (in Calliarcys, Habrophlebia/fg1 and Terpides/g1  –  Kluge 2009: Fig.1), or only one proximal dentiseta (in most Atalophlebomaxillata), or has neither canines, nor dentisetae (in some Atalophlebiolinguata). In most representatives the apical angle of maxilla is rectangular or rounded, but in some taxa it is produced into a pointed spine, sometimes very long [see Index of characters (1.1.29)]; this spine has no relation with the primary maxillary canines, but is a secondary formation.

Size.  Fore wing length 2–15 mm.

Age and distribution. World-wide.
